On July 31, 2021, the Summit Forum on High-Quality Development of Internet Hospitals/ Release of Management Technical Specification was held in the Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH). The forum released the first national technical specification for Internet hospital management compiled and written by PUMCH, marking the entry of Internet hospital development into a new stage centering around medical services. More than 100 experts from relevant fields attended the conference on site, and more than 8,000 people attended the conference online through live streaming.

In his speech, Vice President Wu Peixin said that PUMCH had been, in accordance with the three-step strategy of “Internet consulting, then Internet diagnosis and treatment, and finally Internet hospital”, working steadily to build a “cloud-based PUMCH”; PUMCH will keep advancing the progress of Internet hospital development by working for two major goals, one being “to integrate online services and offline care-seeking to give patients efficient and convenient access to medical care” and the other being “to leverage PUMCH’s advantageous multidisciplinary resources holistically and systematically to bring high-quality medical resources to community-level healthcare facilities and thus to help improve their capabilities and efficiency in providing medical care”. Next, PUMCH will continue to promote the integration of medical technologies with the new-generation information technologies such as cloud computing, 5G, big data, Internet and artificial intelligence in a bid to inject greater vitality into public hospitals for their high-quality development.

At the event, the “PUMCH Compendium of Technical Specifications for Internet Hospital Management (Trial)”was officially released. Factoring in PUMCH’s experience and best practices derived from its explorations of “Internet + medical services” over a long span of time, the specification provides managerial and technical specifications for medical care quality management, inter-hospital teleconsultation, informed consent, diagnosis and treatment, nursing consultation service, pharmacological service, medical record writing and IT adoption under the framework of Internet hospital
