From July 9 to 11, 2021, the Lin Qiaozhi Obstetrics and Gynecology Forum/ the 17th Conference on Progresses in Obstetrics and Gynecology was held in Beijing. This forum has been held for 17 consecutive years and always homes in on the difficulties, hot issues and advances in clinical diagnosis and treatment, representing the highest academic level in the field of obstetrics and gynecology in China.
The theme of this year’s conference is “intersection of obstetrics and gynecology with other disciplines”. Nearly 40 chief physicians and more than 20 associate chief physicians from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, PUMCH engaged in sharing and discussions on a wide range of topics, showcasing the concept of ‘integral medicine’. The conference also organized academic discussions between disciplines including medical humanities, genetics, internal medicine, surgery, immunology, pathology and endocrinology, demonstrating PUMCH’s comprehensive proficiency in diagnosis and treatment.
Nearly 300 people attended the conference on site, and the accumulative online views exceeded 225,000. Besides the conventional agenda items, the conference added interactive activities like face-to-face Q&A with experts and surgical demonstration and discussion. The surgical demonstration session held in the morning of July 11 involved classic surgeries such as ovarian cancer surgery, tumor-free techniques for gynecologic tumor surgery, retroperitoneal tumor resection and hysterectomy through vNOTES; rare surgeries including the removal of rudimentary uterine horn with functional endometrium, sacro-colpopexy to treat vaginal prolapse after vaginoplasty in MRKH patients; rare cases and surgical treatments such as vascular injury treatment, sinus tract removal and mesh removal. The superb surgical demonstrations combined with the wonderful lectures by experts made the event a great learning and exchange opportunity for the participants.
