On December 2, 2020, a strategic partnership agreement between Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) and Huawei Technologies Cooperation was signed at the academic hall of PUMCH. President Zhang Shuyang, Vice President Wu Peixin and the leadership team of PUMCH, Rotating Chair Hu Houkun , CEO Cai Yinhgua of Chinese Government and Enterprise affairs from Huawei Technologies Cooperation were present at the ceremony.

This collaboration will take full use of both parties’ advantages in the health and technology fields.  Together, PUMCH and Huawei will be at the frontline of technology development, to face the great needs of the nation, to care for health of the people, and to deepen the implementation of an innovation-driven development strategy.

Under the framework of this strategic partnership agreement, PUMCH and Huawei will join forces in medical-industrial integration and collaborative innovation to establish a translational medical platform and to cultivate interdisciplinary talents in medical science, information technology and management. Cooperation will also be sought in building a more digitalized hospital.

The partnership will direct their focuses on the frontiers of international technological development and the layouts of major national industries to build a translational medical platform in PUCMH and promote the landing of new technological projects.

The collaboration will also build a medical talent exchange platform aiming at setting the standards for medical talent in the Information Age and cultivating medical talents with sound knowledge in information and communications technology.

A joint effort will be made to develop the top-level frameworks of hospital digital transformation. Innovative demonstration sites and pilot projects will be carried out to further refine the management of PUMCH, to help improve patient experience and to explore new models of hospital digital transformation.

In addition, the two parties will also establish a joint innovation laboratory to make end-to-end design, implementation and translation of innovative product.
