On November 25, 2020, the fifth annual charity event titled “Blessing of Life • Glory of Doctors”, jointly sponsored by Global Times, Life Times, and Doctor Friend, was held in the People's Daily New Media Tower. Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) won seven awards.

Among the winners from PUMCH, Dr. Sun Qiang from the Department of Breast Surgery won the “Golden Lancet Award”, Dr. Liu Zhengyin from the Department of Infectious Disease won the “Elite Specialist Award”, Dr. Kang Lin from the Department of Geriatric Medicine won the “Impact of Popular Science Award”, Dr. Wang Han from the Department of Neurology won the “Humanistic Care Award”, and Zhang Yanbin, senior nurse from the Department of Hematology, won the “Beautiful Angel Award”. The “Pioneers for fighting COVID-19”, a new award this year, was presented to Xia Ying, head nurse from MICU, Dr. Wang Jiangshan from the Emergency Department, and Zou Yao, senior nurse from the Department of Paediatrics. The Palliative Care Volunteers Team from PUMCH won the “Golden Team Award”. In addition, PUMCH was granted the “Most Excellent Organizing Institution Award”.

In this unusual year, two awards, the “Pioneers for Fighting COVID-19” and the “Excellent staff in Nosocomial Infection and Disease Control”, were newly set up by the organizing committee for the medical workers at the front-line of the battle against COVID-19. On the decision about winners of “Elite Specialist Award”, the organizing committee gave preference to Department of Infectious Disease, Department of Respiratory Medicine, ICU and Emergency Department, who have born heavy and crucial responsibilities during the battle against COVID-19.
