Professor Ji Zhigang's team from Urology Department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital successfully completed the first retroperitoneal adrenalectomy using domestic robot laparoscopy system on the morning of November 20, 2020. The success of this operation indicates that the domestic endoscopic surgery robot system has achieved phased results in mechanical design, master-slave control, stereo image and system integration and several other key technologies. The control system of endoscopic surgery robot independently developed by China can "be competent" for this kind of narrow space surgery via retroperitoneal approach.
