Ling Qiu awarded as National Model Individual for Ethnic Unity and Progress

On Sept 27, 2019, the Great Hall of the people in Beijing held a gathering to honor national role models for ethnic unity and progress. Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission honored 665 model groups and 812 model individuals for ethnic unity and progress. Ling Qiu, deputy director of clinical laboratory, PUMCH, was honored as National Model Individual for Ethnic Unity and Progress.

President Xi delivered a speech at the event, stressing efforts to consolidate a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation, calling on people of all ethnic groups to unite and strive to achieve common prosperity and development. The national rejuvenation requires all ethnic groups to strive together, hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder, Xi said.

Ling Qiu joined the Group Aid to Tibet Program from Aug 2015 to Sept 2016. She was then appointed as deputy director of clinical laboratory, Tibet Autonomous Region People’s Hospital. She actively promoted the laboratory, Tibet Autonomous Region People’s Hospital to pass the ISO15189 review.
