On February 10, 2023, PUMCH President Zhang Shuyang and Ao Ieong U, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR signed at the government headquarters of Macao SAR “Cooperation Agreement between Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture of Macao SAR and PUMCH”, witnessed by Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR, Academician Zhao Yupei, President of the Strategic Development Committee of the PUMCH Macao Hospital, and Li Wei, deputy head of the Office of Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs, National Health Commission (NHC), among others.

PUMCH Macao Medical Center/ Macao Hospital is an important cooperation project that embodies PUMCH’s NHC-guided support to Macao’s big health industry development, and PUMCH’s major efforts to conscientiously act upon the vision of President Xi Jinping and the CPC Central Committee for Hong Kong and Macao, contribute to the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and practice the “one country, two systems” principle in the medical field. With this project, PUMCH also makes great strides in serving the overall development of the country, dedicating itself to the Healthy China initiative, and following through its strategic plan for the new centenary ahead.

The signing of the cooperation agreement marks the beginning of long-term cooperation between PUMCH and the Macao SAR government in medical services, medical education, scientific research and translation, international exchanges, and the big health industry. After the Macao Medical Center is put into use, PUMCH will support its operation with its branding power, technology and managerial team, setting its sight on developing it into a national regional medical center.

Before the agreement signing, the PUMCH delegation met with Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR. They had discussions and exchanges on the construction progress of the offshore medical complex and preparations for the tangible and intangible assets needed.

On that day, the Strategic Development Committee of PUMCH Macao Medical Center/ Macao Hospital held its first plenary session of 2023.
