On June 24, 2022, the launch meeting for the National Standardized Allergic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center Project was held at PUMCH. The project aims to allocate quality medical resources to lower-tiered areas to promote the standardization of allergic disease diagnosis and treatment in primary healthcare institutions and improve the relevant capabilities of physicians therein.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), allergic diseases have become the sixth most common diseases in the world. In recent years, the incidence of allergic diseases in China has increased significantly, doing great harm to people’s health and quality of life. However, hospitals with allergy specialties are relatively small in number and scattered in China, and primary healthcare institutions are inadequate in preventing and treating allergic diseases. There is a serious mismatch between the supply of high-quality medical resources and the people's needs for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases.

In order to improve the diagnosis and treatment of allergic diseases in primary medical institutions in China, the National Clinical Research Center for Dermatologic and Immunologic Diseases (NCRC-DID) at PUMCH, together with the Central and Western China Revitalization and Development Office of the China Primary Health Care Foundation, the Revitalization and Development Committee of the China Council for International Investment Promotion (CCIIP) and the Smart Health Investment Promotion Committee of CCIIP, plans to establish 50 county/municipality/district-level National Standardized Allergic Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Centers within three years. The project aims to strengthen the standardized training of allergists in China, improve the hierarchical management and control system of allergic diseases, coordinate the allocation of medical resources for allergic diseases, improve the capabilities of primary healthcare providers in this field and promote the standardization of allergic disease diagnosis and treatment.

In the future, PUMCH will fully play a demonstrative and leading role in building a network, cultivating talents, and promoting equality, establish a national specialist collaboration network for allergic diseases, cultivate a group of specialist doctors rooted at the primary healthcare institutions, truly solve the problem of the people's difficulty in getting access to medical resources, and vigorously promote the construction of a healthy China.
