At the end of May 2022, “Practical Modern Pathology Technology” was revised and reprinted. The chief reviewer of the book is Professor Liang Zhiyong, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Pathology of the Chinese Medical Association and Director of the Department of Pathology of PUMCH. The editors in chief are two senior experts in pathology technology, namely Wang Detian of PUMCH and Ding Wei of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine. The associate editors in chief are Gao Jie, Wu Shafei and Xue Xiaowei of PUMCH. Pathology diagnosis and technology personnel from more than 50 hospitals across China were also involved in the compilation. The editors strive to create a valuable book for pathology technicians in China to preserve the essence of pathology technology while contributing to its development going forward.
The book contains 340-odd sections in 36 chapters, with more than 1,390 color pictures and 120 tables. It introduces all aspects of pathology technology and practical experience from tissue reception, grossing, fixation, dehydration, embedding, paraffin-embedded section staining, frozen section staining, cytological staining to special staining; from immunohistochemistry to molecular biology techniques; from manual operation to whole-process automated equipment operation; from experience and insights to quality management; from department management to information management; from the development and application of modern pathology technologies, the introduction of new equipment to the application of AI in pathology diagnosis. The book also specifies requirements for standardizing important aspects of pathology technology.
The book is very suitable for personnel engaged in pathological diagnosis, lab researches and management as well as pathology technicians in pathology departments of hospitals, medical schools and research institutes.
