PUMCH recently held one of the series of trainings on the transformation of scientific and technological achievements: practical sharing of achievement transformation. Feng Guodong, associated professor of the Department of Otolaryngology and Hua Surong, attending physician of the Department of General Surgery were invited to give lectures. Through their experience in achievement transformation, combined with real patented innovative designs, they explicitly talked about the problems and solutions that may be faced in the process of achievement transformation.
Dr. Feng shared his success through the topic "Surgical Technology Research-Concept and Realization", combined with more than ten years of exploration and accumulation. He analyzed the value and significance of each result, and explained the scientific and technological achievements in detail. Basic knowledge, risk prevention and control points, and key points and difficulties in the transformation process were also covered. He believes that the implementation of patents is a complex process.
Inspired by aerial photography defogging technology, the team of Dr. Hua has developed defogging technology, overexposure correction technology and dark area correction technology in laparoscopy surgery, and has achieved monumental results. He concluded that in order to carry out the transformation, there must be both short-term and long-term goals, and there must be results in each stages.
During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the hospital has authorized a total of 1,115 patents, more than 23 times the number of patents authorized during the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period. Since the hospital established the Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Committee and the Scientific and Technological Achievement Transformation Office in 2020, the number and amount of projects have exceeded the sum of the three years from 2017 to 2019.
The supporting endoscopy system developed by Dr. Feng’s team won the first prize of the Chinese Medical Device Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition of the Chinese Society of Biomedical Engineering.
