On March 12, 2021, the Internet Hospital of Peking Union Medical College Hospital passed the review of Beijing Municipal Health Commission and became the first Internet hospital approved in Beijing.

The review experts showed great interest in the implementation of Internet diagnosis and treatment, and highly praised the process, patient friendliness, and work standards. After questions and comments, the experts unanimously agreed to approve the Internet Hospital of PUMCH, and hoped that PUMCH would continue to play the leading role in the construction of Internet hospitals.

PUMCH has been actively promoting its digital transformation and exploring in the field of "Internet plus healthcare". In September 2020, the functions of drug distribution, online and offline diagnosis and treatment transfer, and one-stop examination appointment were put online, which overcome the "last kilometer" distance for patients to seek medical advice. So far, 40 clinical and technical departments have been authorized to provide Internet diagnosis and treatment, 25 departments have been offering online consultations, and more than 25000 cases have been completed.

PUMCH will continue to improve the online and offline diagnosis and treatment process, to implement the health care reform policy, to make better utilization of medical resources, to save medical costs, to increase service methods according to the Internet hospital management principles and the actual needs of patients, and to expand the scope of Internet diagnosis and treatment, so as to make more beneficial exploration for the development of Internet hospitals.
