To improve the medical service quality of rare diseases, Bureau of Medical Administration of National Health Commission designated Peking Union Medical College Hospital to establish National Medical Service Quality Control Center for Rare Diseases to carry out quality control and management for rare diseases. The preparatory period is from November 2020 to December 2022. On February 27, 2021, one day before the upcoming 14th International Rare Disease Day, PUMCH held the inaugural meeting of the National Medical Service Quality Control Center for Rare Diseases online.
The National Medical Service Quality Control Center for Rare Diseases, led by PUMCH, will build up the organization and work from four aspects, including system organization and management, standardization of disease diagnosis and treatment, quality control, and sustainable improvement. With the collaboration of multi-disciplinary expert teams from different hospitals, it will make further contribution to improve medical service quality for rare diseases in China.
In November 2020, National Health Commission announced the designation of PUMCH to conduct quality control and management for rare disease.
