Form 1st Jan, 2021, Beijing medical insurance costs could be settled by not only the entity card, but also the digital certificates.

Recently, through the joint efforts from Department of Medical Insurance Management, Information Technology Center, Department of Finance (both charging office and admission office), Department of Outpatient, General Office of West Campus, and International Medical Service, digital certificates of medical insurance could be used in costs settlement in PUMCH. This change would not only bring convenience for patients, but also promote the efficiency of settlement. Beijing will be the first city in China to use digital certificates for all kinds of medical costs and all the patients with medical insurance.

QR code settlements could replace the usage of entity card in the near future. The digital certificate of medical insurance would cover multiple functions including identity authentication, information record, self-service enquiry, medical insurance settlement, and medical insurance applications, etc. Patients with Beijing medical insurance will enjoy all kinds of public health online services safer and more efficiently. Meanwhile, the identity verification of digital medical insurance certificate is now functional in Beijing.
