Local outbreaks and sporadic COVID-19 infected cases were identified in some areas in China. A new operational recommendation of Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) was issued on January 11, 2021. Related procedures, such as staff screening, preview and triage, prevention of nosocomial infection and environmental sampling, were reshaped. On the second day after the recommendation was released, the hospital leaders supervised the implementation of the recommendation in the hospital. On the third day, they analyzed the prevention and control of COVID-19 infection under the new requirements. Quick responses and no slack mood were required for the whole staff of PUMCH to promote the effective implementation of prevention and control of COVID-19 pandemic.
At the administrative meeting on Monday, President Zhang Shuyang and Vice President Wu Peixin expressed their gratitude to the support from the administrative team and the contributions by the whole staff for the safety and smooth operation of the hospital. The epidemic prevention and control in China still requires high attention. All measures must be strengthened in a scientific way, with accurate target and quick actions to dissolve risks. In the Department of Emergency (Fever Clinic), high vigilance should be kept during screening. Systematic investigation and implementation of various prevention and control measures should be carried out in all wards. Patients gathering in the outpatient should be dissolved carefully. Telemedicine could be encouraged in an appropriate way. Administrators should investigate in frontline and try to find out possible problems. Problem solving should be in a systematic and foresight way. Every staff should also join in the prevention, do the work as we learn, do not ignore any tiny problem, implement the recommendations and build a solid line to prevent and control COVID-19 infection.
President Zhang Shuyang and Vice President Wu Peixin put forward PUMCH requirements for epidemic prevention and control under the new situation on Jan 11th.
