The Fifth Asia-Pacific Angiology Academic Alliance (APA) Conference and 2018 International Annual Congress of Macau Medical Science & Technology Research Association were held in Macau from June 21 to 23, 2019. Experts and scholars from China (including the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan Province) and foreign countries including Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and European countries gathered together and shared their insights on peripheral vascular diseases and microcirculation.

The event was co-sponsored by the Department of Vascular Surgery of Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) and the Health Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region. Dr. Zheng Yuehong from the Department of Vascular Surgery of PUMCH, who is also the chairman of the APA Conference and deputy secretary-general of Chinese Society of Microcirculation, and Dr. Cai Nian, president of the APA, co-chaired the conference.

Focused on peripheral vascular diseases, the meeting wows its audience with edge-cutting advances in vascular medicine through summit forums, keynote speeches, academic reports, and live broadcasts of surgeries. The conference also hosted the APA International Nursing Branch (APAN) inauguration ceremony and the International Nursing Forum. The conference provided a platform for exchanges and competitions for young doctors from many countries and regions in the Asia-Pacific region. In the Young Medical Staff English Speech Contest, Ms. Xu Yuan and Dr. Sun Xiaoning from PUMCH defeated their opponents from 22 contestants and won the first prize. These events created vivid and meaningful environments and also provided opportunities for youth elites from PUMCH to display their talents.
