On April 22, 2018, Madrid time, the Global Chinese Association of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (GCACMID) Europe Summit Forum & Chinese Committee on Antimicrobial Susceptibility Testing (ChiCAST) 2nd Conference was held at a branch site of the 28th European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID). The event was led by Professor Xu Yingchun from the Clinical Laboratory, PUMCH and was attended by EUCAST former chairman, current chairman, secretary general and many other authorities on clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. Focuses included breakpoints setting in China.
The opening ceremony was co-chaired by Dr. Wang He, GCACMID Secretary General and Research Associate Yang Qiwen, ChiCAST Secretary General, and was addressed by Professor Xu Yingchun, GCACMID Managing Director and ChiCAST Chairman. In the first half, Professor Po-Ren Hsueh with the Departments of Laboratory Medicine and Internal Medicine, College of Medicine, at the National Taiwan University, Professor Zhang Jing, Deputy Director of Institute of Antibiotics, Huashan Hospital Affiliated to Fudan University, Professor Zhuo Chao, person in charge of bacterial infection program, Guangzhou State Key Laboratory of Respiratory Disease shared with the audience main points in clinical breakpoints setting from perspectives of clinical micro microbiology, clinical pharmacology and infectious diseases. In the second half, EUCAST Former Chairman Professor Gunnar Kahlmeter, EUCAST Current Chairman Professor Christian G. Giske and Secretary General Professor John Turnidge briefed on the process of setting clinical epidemiology breakpoints and pharmacokinetics-pharmacodynamics breakpoints. Research Associate Yang Qiwen gave a summary of ChiCAST’s current work and looked into its future.
