From August 4 to 6, 2023, the second National Translational Medicine Imaging Technology Innovation Conference (hereinafter referred to as the “Innovation Conference”) was held in Beijing. Themed “Interdisciplinarity, Innovation, Collaboration, and Translation”, the conference focused on the interdisciplinary frontiers of medical imaging and the clinical translation of relevant technologies. The conference was hosted by the National Infrastructures for Translational Medicine (Peking Union) and organized by the Department of Radiology and the Department of Nuclear Medicine, PUMCH. More than 400 experts and colleagues attended the conference.

PUMCH President Zhang Shuyang stated in her speech that the underlying force for innovation-driven development will be fully explored only by translating the basic research findings into clinical applications; PUMCH would, as always, adhere to the “four orientations” (towards the global frontiers of science and technology, economic priorities, people’s health, and the depth and breadth of science and technology) and strive to develop the National Facility for Translational Medicine into an important base for cultivating innovative talents and conducting high-level medical researches.

The conference featured ten subspecialty sessions, including sessions on advanced diagnostic imaging techniques, cardiovascular imaging, structure and function in neurology and psychiatry, translational medicine, molecular imaging, molecular imaging and intelligent technologies, innovative paradigms in imaging research, and imaging case interpretations. Over 150 top Chinese experts and scholars delivered nearly a hundred substantial, informative and insightful academic presentations. Participants thus gained an in-depth understanding of the cutting-edge achievements and clinical applications in radiology and nuclear medicine, broadening their clinical and research perspectives. During the subspecialty sessions, attendees and speakers enthusiastically engaged in face-to-face interactions and exchanges.
