PUMCH Adopted Five New Measures to Strengthen Epidemic Prevention and Control

Recently, B.1.1 7 mutant strains of Covid 19 have been identified in sporadic cases. In order to strictly prevent the spread of variant strains, and implement the policy of "guarding against imported cases and preventing a resurgence of the outbreak at home" by Beijing municipal government, Peking Union Medical College Hospital deployed the prevention and control hospital-wide.

President Zhang Shuyang made a specific emphasis on balancing epidemic prevention and control and work resumption. She mentioned that we should carry out epidemic prevention and control of in a down-to-earth manner, stay vigilance, avoid formalism and bureaucracy, pursue the goals of "four early" and two "zero infection", and support key departments with concerted efforts of whole hospital.

Vice President Wu Peixin stressed that firstly, it is important to clearly distinguish the situation, unify our thinking and improve the predictability of work. Secondly, we should clearly assign the task, and improve the efficiency of work. Thirdly, all staff need to cooperate closely and improve the effectiveness of work.

At weekly meeting Monday afternoon, Vice President Wu Wenming informed all staff of the five specific measures to strengthen the prevention and control of epidemic, including stringent inpatient management, strict outpatient management, instant first-aid and medical treatment, standardized nucleic acid tests, and regular supervision and inspection.

Facing the changing situation during pandemic, PUMCH takes precautions and responds actively to achieve the goal of zero nosocomial infection with the guarantee of medical quality.
