Medical Tradition in PUMC
By Rong Zhi
The old PUMC turned out a miracle, creating a golden period of medical science in a time of political turmoil. From the viewpoint of an insider, the author gives a vivid account of the college's 90-year history: from William Lockhart's arrival at Peking, to the college's being nationalized, from being a half-acre clinic to a "medical college unrivalled in the Far East". Rich historical materials are used to describe the rise and development of the medical tradition of this college and the portraits of forerunners are vividly drawn. By this book, all PUMC-lovers will be able to travel back in time to touch that piece of history not yet totally forgotten.
