On October 9, 2025, the Department of Radiology, PUMCH hosted Chinese-European Medical Imaging Exchange Symposium, welcoming Professor Bernd Hamm, Editor-in-Chief of European Radiology, and Professor Francesco Sardanelli, Editor-in-Chief of European Radiology Experimental. The two experts shared cutting-edge insights on radiological research design and manuscript publication, engaging in in-depth discussions with junior physicians.

Feng Feng, Director of the Department of Imaging and Nuclear Medicine and Director of the Department of Radiology at PUMCH, delivered opening remarks, extending a warm welcome to the visiting experts. She expressed hope that the academic exchange would deepen mutual understanding and help junior physicians identify research priorities and increase their chances of getting published.
During the academic presentations, Professor Hamm delivered a talk titled "101 Reasons for Manuscript Rejection", drawing on his editorial perspective and real cases from European Radiology to vividly illustrate common pitfalls in research design, manuscript writing, and the submission process, guiding junior physicians to recognize both strengths and weaknesses in their manuscripts. Professor Sardanelli focused on "Pitfalls in the Publication Process of Radiological Research", systematically addressing typical errors throughout the entire workflow—from study design and data analysis to manuscript preparation and submission—with particular emphasis on common biases and limitations in clinical research. Both editors engaged in lively discussions with around 40 junior and mid-career physicians, exploring practical challenges in research design and publication.

Following the symposium, Professor Hamm and Professor Sardanelli toured the department's advanced equipment, including photon-counting CT and 5T MRI systems, and met with key clinical staff members.
Director Feng Feng noted that this academic exchange bridged global expertise with PUMCH's institutional strengths, not only providing junior physicians with a high-level platform for international academic interactions but also sparking dynamic exchanges of research ideas that will energize the continued advancement of the imaging discipline.
