On April 7, 2023, PUMCH President Zhang Shuyang led a delegation to Guiyang city and met with Xu Lin, Party Secretary and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People’s Congress of Guizhou Province, and Li Bingjun, Deputy Party Secretary and Governor of Guizhou Province. They attended the signing ceremony of the “Framework Agreement on Cooperation in Building a Regional Medical Center between the People’s Government of Guizhou Province and Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences”. Guizhou provincial leaders Wu Qiang, Chen Shaobo and Dong Jialu, and PUMCH Vice President Du Bin also attended the ceremony.

Xu Lin and Li Bingjun, on behalf of the CPC provincial committee and the provincial government of Guizhou, welcomed Zhang Shuyang and the PUMCH delegation and extended gratitude to PUMCH for its attention to and support of Guizhou. Xu Lin said that Guizhou, in line with the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and the messages delivered by President Xi Jinping during his visit to Guizhou, is making painstaking efforts to advance the high-quality development of Guizhou by leaps and bounds. He expressed the hope that Guizhou and PUMCH would build upon the current sound cooperation and deepen partnerships in healthcare and medical education, among other areas, striving to make a series of hallmark achievements to boost healthcare development in Guizhou and better satisfy people’s health needs. Li Bingjun also expressed the hope that both sides would seize the opportunity of jointly building a regional medical center to implement all items in the agreement without any compromise and deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, brining into full play the advantage of PUMCH to promote the high-quality development of health undertakings in Guizhou.

President Zhang Shuyang thanked Guizhou for its support to PUMCH and expressed her admiration for Guizhou’s remarkable achievements. She said that PUMCH would do its utmost to spearhead academic pursuits, extend benefits to the entire region, provide financial aid to patients with critical illnesses and provide support as a platform. PUMCH would seek to build a new “PUMCH-Guizhou” cross-reginal model of medical aid and cooperation, assist medical institutions in Guizhou in improving their capabilities and expertise and help the region extend its influence and benefits far and wide, laying a solid foundation for the high-quality development of healthcare in Guizhou.

Dong Jialu and Du Bin signed the cooperation agreement on behalf of both sides. According to the agreement, PUMCH and Guizhou will cooperate to build an advanced regional medical center, a medical research center, a medical translational center, a medical data pooling center, a medical talent training center, and a hospital management demonstration center.

On the morning of April 7, PUMCH signed an assistance and cooperation agreement with the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University and Guizhou Provincial People’s Hospital respectively. To these two leading hospitals in Guizhou province, PUMCH would provide targeted assistance so that they can benefit from PUMCH’s branding power, technological and managerial advantages and quality medical resources. PUMCH would coordinate Grade A Tertiary hospitals in Guizhou province to strengthen partnerships between their advantageous disciplines in a bid to jointly build the regional medical center and help Guizhou make breakthroughs in medical services, medical research, medical translation, data pooling, talent training and hospital management and other aspects.
