PUMCH places a high premium on the cultivation of young talents and it has turned out a large number of clinical specialists, nursing specialists and medical scientists who went on to take up important posts and make big contribution to China’s healthcare over the years. Recently, 10 postdoctoral fellows at PUMCH were selected for the 2022 “PUMCH Young Scholars Support Program”. The program aims to select postdocs who have excelled at research, uphold academic ethics and show great potential in research and build a team of young talents with strong technological prowess and impeccable ethics for medical science and technology innovation. Long Junyu
Class 2022 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Liver Surgery
Dr. Long was honored as a Post-doctoral Innovative Talent and led a Beijing Natural Science Foundation youth project. He has published 25 SCI papers as the first author or co-first author, with cumulative impact factor scores of more than 200. Among them, 8 papers scored more than 10, including one highly cited article (Lancet sub-journal), one cover article and one best paper award. The total number of citations is more than 1,600 times, and the highest number of citations in a single paper is 189. So far, his research results have an h-index of 22 and an i10-index of 40.
He has long been committed to the clinical transformation of targeted immune combination therapy for hepatobiliary malignancies. He first systematically elaborated on the development direction of precise immunotherapy of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors and constructed molecular markers to predict the efficacy of PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitors. He also revealed gut microbiota associated with immunotherapy response in hepatobiliary malignancies and thoroughly clarified the synergistic mechanism of targeted therapy combined with immunotherapy.
Liu Shuzhong
Class 2021 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Orthopedics
Doctor Liu led the completion an innovation fund for doctoral students in Peking Union Medical College, and now leads an ongoing talent cultivation program for young and middle-aged doctors in osteoporosis and bone mineral contents. As the first author or co-first author, he has published more than 10 articles in English and 30 articles in Chinese, with a maximum citation frequency of over 60 times. Two articles have been published in the “Journal of Bone Oncology”, the most authoritative journal in the field of bone tumor, and 13 utility model patents and 2 invention patents have been approved. He served as a young editorial board member of the “Chinese Journal of Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Medical Research and Practice”, and a peer reviewer of journals such as the “Journal of Neuro-Oncology”.
The main research direction is bone and soft tissue tumors, focusing on the key role of bone morphogenetic protein pathway (BMP pathway) in bone remodeling at bone metastasis sites, as well as the development of new biomaterials that promote the repair of tumorous bone defects.
Zhang Shuyuan
Class 2021 Postdoctoral Fellow in Scientific Research
During the postdoctoral period, Dr. Zhang published several SCI articles as the co-first author in the “New England Journal of Medicine”, “Hypertension Research”, etc. As the investigator of the project, she participated in the "14th Five-Year Plan" National Key Research and Development Plan, the 2030 Science and Technology Innovation Plan of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Special Clinical Research Project of the Central High-level Hospital, the Beijing Natural Science Foundation and other research projects. She also has been granted the Silver Award of Young Researchers of the International Hypertension Congress in 2022, and the honorary titles of Excellent Employee and Five-Star Volunteer of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in 2022.
As the principal investigator, she participated in the Strategy of Blood Pressure Intervention in the Elderly Hypertensive Patients, which provided new evidence for the blood pressure target in Chinese elderly patients over 60 years old. The results were published in the “New England Journal of Medicine”, and the paper was awarded Best Paper of the “New England Journal of Medicine” in 2021.
Cui Ming
Class 2021 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of General Surgery
Dr. Cui has led one project of Beijing Natural Science Foundation and one project of the fundamental research funds for the central universities. He has published 16 SCI articles as the first author or co-first author and 10 articles in Chinese core journals, including 6 Q1 articles in journals such as “The New England Journal of Medicine” and “International Journal of Surgery”, with a cumulative impact factor of 149.7. He serves as a review editor for several SCI journals such as “Frontiers in Oncology” and a reviewer for several SCI journals such as the “Journal of Investigative Surgery”. His main research focuses on the immune escape mechanism and new immunotherapy targets of pancreatic cancer, as well as clinical translational research of parathyroid cancer.
Feng Penghui
Class 2022 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Obstetrics and Gynecology
As the principal investigator, Dr. Feng led one youth project for the Beijing Natural Science Foundation and participated in multiple research projects, including the National Key R&D Program, the Basic Research Business Fund for Central Public Welfare Scientific Research Institutions, and the Clinical Research Special Fund for Central High-Level Hospitals. He has published 18 papers, among which 10 were published with him as the first author or co-first author in SCI journals. He contributed to the editing of three reproductive medicine clinical monographs in the past year. Dr. Feng applied for 5 national patents and 1 PCT international patent. He has participated in several international and domestic academic conferences and won awards. Now he serves as a young editor for ERHM and other journals, and a reviewer for “Frontiers in Endocrinology” and other journals.
His primary research focus is the regulation and intervention of female reproductive endocrine diseases, reproductive aging and fertility protection, and the key markers of oocyte mitochondrial quality control and endometrial aging based on multi-omics data analysis. He created a public WeChat account Reproductive Space" and posted a large number of high-quality popular science articles, with a cumulative number of followers exceeding 10,000.
Xiao Yinbo
Class 2022 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Pathology
Dr. Xiao’s research is focused on stem cell niche biology and bioengineering. He has published a series of peer-reviewed articles in well-recognized journals, including “Biomaterials” and “Materials Today Bio”. He has been enrolled in the “International Postdoctoral Exchange Fellowship Program” and received funding from the Wellcome Trust Institutional Strategic Support Fund (ISSF) as well as China Postdoc Council. He serves as a peer reviewer of several journals, including “Biomaterials Advances” and “Biomaterials and Biosystems”.
Miao Hui
Class 2022 Postdoctoral Fellow in Scientific Research
Dr. Miao has participated in several research projects including the National Key Research and Development Program of China, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) Innovation Fund for Medical Sciences, and the National High Level Hospital Clinical Research Funding. She has published SCI papers as the first author or co-first author in “Biosensors & Bioelectronics”, “Endocrinology”, “Endocr Pract” and other journals.
Her main research interest is hypothalamic-pituitary diseases. She has conducted studies on rare ACTH pituitary neuroendocrine tumors and ectopic ACTH syndrome; explored the application of liquid biopsy in neuroendocrine tumors using NanoVelcro Chips and investigated the potential role of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as biomarkers of peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) response. She is currently working on clinical and translational medical research related to pituitary neuroendocrine tumors.
Zhou Yuping
Class 2022 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Cardiology
Dr. Zhou is devoted to the clinical and genetic research on pulmonary vascular diseases. As the principal investigator, he participated in the Nationwide Registry Study on Takayasu Arteritis Associated Pulmonary Hypertension, and innovatively proposed that percutaneous transluminal pulmonary angioplasty could be a potential therapeutic opinion for patients with Takayasu Arteritis Associated Pulmonary Hypertension. Till now, Dr. Zhou has published 12 papers in highly influential journals, such as “J Am Coll Cardiol”, “Eur Heart J”, and “J Thromb Haemost”. He was selected for the 7th batch of Postdoctoral Innovative Talents Support Program. He also served as the academic secretary of the editorial department of the European Heart Journal (Chinese version), and the invited reviewer of “J Thromb Haemost”, the official journal of the International Society for Thrombosis and Hemostasis (ISTH).
Chao Xiaopei
Class 2021 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr. Chao led a special support project from the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation. As the first author and co-first author, she has published eighteen SCI articles, and ten Chinese core journal articles and reviews. Besides, she participated in multiple international academic conferences, including two oral presentations and two posters. She also made speeches at domestic academic conferences for 6 times. She has been granted two invention patents and one software copyright.
She majors in basic and clinical research on adenomyosis and endometriosis. During her clinical postdoctoral period, the correlation between WGD and adenomyosis early onset and the effect of hormone therapy was confirmed. This research result is expected to achieve a breakthrough in the basic research of adenomyosis, providing new ideas and basic basis for clinical diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
Cheng Linlin
Class 2022 Postdoctoral Fellow in Clinical Medicine of Clinical Laboratory
Dr. Cheng has presided over 1 Beijing Municipal Natural Science Foundation Project and participated in five scientific research projects including the National Key Research and Development Program of China. As the first author or the co-first author, Cheng has published 10 SCI papers in international journals such as “Signal Transduct Target Ther” and “Arthritis Rheumatol”, and published 3 articles in core Chinese academic journals. Among them, three SCI papers had an IF greater than 10, and a single SCI paper was cited 151 times, which was considered as "highly cited papers" and had been among the top 1% of Clinical Medicine academic field. Oral presentations have been made multiple times at academic conferences both domestically and internationally, and awards have been obtained. The main research direction is to identify the biomarkers and pathogenic mechanisms of autoimmune diseases including Behcet's disease.
