Today is February 19, 2022, the day before the closing ceremony of the Winter Olympics and everyone is busy preparing for it. The medical service station and the venue team of Beijing Emergency Medical Center are due to provide on-site medical services during the one-stop security check, personnel gathering and the return trip on the day of the closing ceremony.
Tonight, Chen Gang and I are about to see Mr. Christophe Dubi, Olympic Games Executive Director of the International Olympic Committee. Mr. Dubi is our acquaintance already. When he first arrived in Beijing, his old injury flared up and he suffered severe pain. Medical Manager Shi Di helped transfer him to the PUMCH Winter Olympic Ward where the multidisciplinary team from the Department of Anesthesiology, the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and the Department of Orthopedics Surgery formulated a detailed treatment plan for him, after an efficient consultation. Associate chief physician Cui Xulei from the Department of Anesthesiology carried out a series of treatments based on local injections. As a result, Mr. Dubi’s pain was significantly relieved and adhesions were reduced, which greatly improved his health within a short period of time and ensured that he was in a good shape for the intense and busy work awaiting him.
When we met Mr. Dubi again, we found him still funny and talkative. He profusely praised and continuously mentioned Shi Di’s meticulous work, the heart-warming services of the medical station, the professional diagnosis and treatment services in the PUMCH Winter Olympic Ward, and the efficient consultation of multidisciplinary teams. He jokingly said, “I really don’t want to leave PUMCH.” After an exchange of gifts, Mr. Dubi left a poetic letter of appreciation to PUMCH and made a deal to see us again in Beijing next summer!
“Kindness and competence. Passion and determination. Hazmat suits and smiles! I was always in high spirit, but in pain…I am still in high spirit but feeling just great. To PUMCHer, thank you ever so much for giving your precious time to contribute to fabulous games. You are true heroes!”
Mr. Dubi earnestly and sincerely wrote poetic words of appreciation and signed his name with a smiley face.
