The Hospice and Palliative Care Multidisciplinary Team of PUMCH (hereinafter referred to as “Hospice and Palliative Care MDT”) recently conducted the first multidisciplinary consultation for a patient with end-stage dyspnea and his family members. Consultation experts provided them with comprehensive care that covers symptom control, psychological health and social communication. Composed of medical staff from the Department of Geriatrics, International Medical Services, Department of Psychological Medicine, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Department of Nursing, Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Team and Aromatherapy Nursing Team, PUMCH Hospice and Palliative Care MDT is another new initiative following the opening of the Hospice and Palliative Care Clinic, aimed at providing a full range of services for terminally ill patients.
In December 2020, the Beijing Municipal Health Commission designated PUMCH as the “Beijing Hospice and Palliative Care Guidance Center”. Within the hospital, the Hospice and Palliative Care MDT will continue to play a leading role, and fully leverage the multidisciplinary consultation mechanism and the advantages of various departments to provide patients and their families with higher-quality and more comprehensive support and assistance. Outside the hospital, the Hospice and Palliative Care MDT will continue to give full play to the role of Beijing Hospice and Palliative Care Guidance Center, and lead and facilitate the solid development of hospice and palliative care in Beijing, to bring benefits to more terminally ill patients and their families.
Consultation experts include experts from the Department of Geriatrics, International Medical Services, Department of Psychological Medicine, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Department of Nursing, Hospice and Palliative Care Medical Team and Aromatherapy Nursing Team, as well as medical social workers.
