Thanks to the support of PUMCH leaders, the huge support by the PUMCH Xidan campus and coordination among departments, on October 11, 2021, the doctor-nurse joint oncology outpatient services, led by the Department of Nursing, was officially opened to the public to provide comprehensive health services for patients and their families.
Pain is one of the toughest problems for tumor patients. At present, the doctor-nurse joint oncology outpatient service focuses on pain treatment, including assessment, screening, medication guidance, health education and follow-up of (cancer) pain. The joint oncology outpatient service also offers nursing guidance for end-stage tumor symptoms, guidance for at-home dressing change for malignant wounds and guidance for home nursing for adverse reactions to radiotherapy or chemotherapy, all in a bid to provide tumor patients with higher-quality and more humane medical services. Zheng Ying, head nurse of the Department of Oncology, said that doctors and nurses need at least half an hour for each patient received, to provide medical services from multiple perspectives, including medication, nursing and emotional relief.
