Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) held the 2021 International Nurses' Day celebration at the PUMCH Lecture Hall on May 8, 2021. At the celebration ceremony, the new books "Centennial PUMCH Nursing" and a four-volume "PUMCH Nurses’ Talk" were officially released. "Centennial PUMCH Nursing" is compiled chronologically as it records precious moments in the development of PUMCH nursing with both pictures and texts, and vividly reproduces the responsibility and mission of PUMCH nursing staff in different historical periods. As a companion piece to “PUMCH Doctors’ Talk”, “PUMCH Nurses’ Talk” utilizes comical illustrations to illustrate the perspectives from the public, and focuses on the four aspects: chronic illness, infectious diseases, woman’s health and children’s growth. It conveys the knowledge of illness and concepts of health through precision and warmth.
In order to improve teaching qualities and cultivate outstanding nursing education of clinical nurses at all levels, the 13th Chinese and 11th English Clinical Nursing Teaching Competition of PUMCH was successfully held in April this year. A total of 151 nurses from 11 departments took part in the competition, and 24 outstanding nurses won the first, second and third place and the Awards of Excellence. During the award ceremony, Guo Na, director of the nursing department, announced the list of winners, and the leaders of the hospital presented the awards.
The three young nurses narrated the ordinary and touching moments of their work-life, which vividly demonstrated the fundamental missions such as protect all lives, heal the wounded and save the dying.
