On September 24, 2020, PUMCH’s online diagnosis and treatment drug delivery service was officially launched. Non-medical insurance patients across the country can enjoy the “point-to-point” home delivery service of medicines after the online diagnosis, treatment and follow-up prescriptions at PUMCH. Nearly 60% of the patients in PUMCH come from other provinces, and it is the constant pursuit of the PUMCHers to provide patients with more convenient and warmer services. The launch of this service indicates that non-medical patients across the country can complete the entire process of appointment, treatment, payment, and pharmacy online without going to the hospital, which greatly saves patients' time cost and travel expenses. PUMCH’s “Internet + medical health” has achieved significant results.

In order to avoid various risks that may occur in the medicine delivery, the Pharmacy Department has formulated strict operating procedures, with each step being set up for review and tracking video, so as to achieve real-time monitoring and ensure the traceability of each step. Previously, the medication guidance function jointly developed by the Pharmacy Department and the Information Center has also been launched. After patients have completed the diagnosis and treatment payment, they can inquire about medication guidance in the App in real time and can enter the consultation interface to consult Pharmacist online. At present, PUMCH is able to prescribe more than 1,000 kinds of oral medicines, external medicines and injections for common and chronic diseases, and support more than 700 kinds of medicines for delivery. In the initial stage, patients are not charged for drug delivery. Due to the limitation of the settlement method, only drug delivery for non-medical patients is currently supported. In the future, services such as direct payment and drug delivery for medical-insurance covered patients will be gradually developed in accordance with the national medical insurance policy.

In May 2020, PUMCH’s online diagnosis and treatment service for returning patients was officially launched. It has formed a diagnosis and treatment scale covering more than 100 common and chronic diseases in 19 specialties. At the beginning of September, the hospital also realized the conversion of online and offline outpatient clinic appointments. At the same time, doctors who provide online as well as offline services can make flexible appointments for returning patients in advance according to actual conditions of the patients.

President Zhao Yupei and Vice President Wu Wenming led a number of relevant department heads to witness the successful completion of the first home delivery of PUMCH’s online diagnosis and treatment.
