On November 10, 2019, the Hospital Management Institute of Fudan University released the "2018 Chinese Hospital Rankings". Peking Union Medical College Hospital (PUMCH) topped the rankings for ten consecutive years, ranking first in “Reputation” and second in “Scientific Research”.

Among the 40 specialties covered by the specialty list, 8 specialist departments of PUMCH ranked the list. These departments included the Department of Rheumatology, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Department of Radiology, Department of Allergy and Immunology, Department of General Surgery, and Emergency Department. Five specialist departments including Department of Endocrinology, Department of Neurology, Department of Ultrasound Medicine, Clinical Laboratory, and Department of Anesthesiology were ranked second. Of 29 departments that were enrolled by the list, 10 were among the top ten. In addition, 6 departments of PUMCH were nominated.

Three departments including the Department of Rheumatology, Department of General Surgery, and Department of Obstetrics & gynecology have been ranked first for ten consecutive years. The Department of Rheumatology and the Department of Nuclear Medicine ranked first in “Reputation” and “Scientific Research”, with an overall score of 100. Among the 29 departments enrolled in the list, seven departments including the Department of Radiology, Department of Anesthesia, Department of Infectious Diseases, Department of Plastic Surgery, Clinical Pharmacy, Department of Nephrology, and Department of Geriatrics had their rankings increased; in particular, the ranking of the Department of Infectious Diseases increased by 3 places to top 3.

As shown in the lists, the Department of Rheumatology, Department of General Surgery, and Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology have dominated their corresponding discipline for ten consecutive years; the Department of Nuclear Medicine, Emergency Department, Department of Critical Care Medicine, and Department of Allergy and Immunology have been in first place since they were included in the list. Three departments including Department of Anesthesiology, Clinical Laboratory, and Department of Ultrasound Medicine have consecutively been in second place, and 15 departments including the Department of Rheumatology, Department of General Surgery, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Department of Nuclear Medicine, Emergency Department, Department of Critical Care Medicine, Department of Allergy and Immunology, Department of Radiology, Department of Neurology, Department of Endocrinology, Department of Anesthesiology, Clinical Laboratory, Department of Ultrasound Medicine, Department of Pathology, and Department of Gastroenterology have been the top three departments.
