Themed by “Honoring model doctors, creating a doctor-friendly environment, and promoting the health of the people”, the list is widely recognized as authoritative, objective, and fair. It was designed to promote the policies, mechanisms, public opinion, academic activities, and social environment that favor the career development of famous doctors in China, increase the motivation and professionalism of medical practitioners, and ultimately contribute to the Healthy China strategy.

The National Medical Doctors ceremony has been successfully held for two sessions and became one of the most popular events for the medical community. Different from the previous two sessions, this year the list was generated based on the recommendations of an academic committee, which ensured a more rigorous selection process with the professional inputs from more disciplines. Members of the academic committee included: top hospital directors with good reputations in disease diagnosis and treatment and/or clinical research in China; chairpersons of national academic associations/societies; and directors of top 10 clinical departments in the Ranking of Superiority Specialty of Chinese Hospitals (Fudan edition).

The list has four honorable titles including special tribute, academic excellence, outstanding style, and young talent, commemorating Chinese doctors who have made great achievements in patient care and scientific research and earned a good reputation among patients.
