On January 7, 2019, PUMCH held its 2019 clinical medicine post-doctors selection interview. The assessors’ panel consisted of nearly 300 representatives of hospital leaders, clinical medicine department chiefs, leading doctors and administrative departments. Altogether 57 doctoral graduates finally won out to join the PUMCH clinical medicine post-doctoral team.
This year recruiting specialities extended from 18 to 21, adding allergic reaction, clinical nutrition and laboratory.
The recruitment publicity campaign started in October 2018. A publicity team consisting of representatives from various departments entered 10 key medical schools in 9 provinces and completed 11 off-line speeches, with a total audience of nearly a thousand. Their online broadcasting received more than 4,000 hits.
Then 262 people registered for selection. They were from renowned Chinese medical schools as well as schools in Germany, Japan, etc. Half of them were in the eight-year education system and half of them were clinical medicine doctors.
On January 4-6, 142 candidates sat in exams of English, psychology, general medical knowledge, speciality theories and OSCE. This was followed by speciality interviews, which were carried out by 268 assessors consisting of department chiefs, assistants, teaching secretaries and leading doctors. As a result 75 candidates entered the next round of competition.
On January 7, the hospital-level interview was held in which 57 candidates finally won out.
This year the selection saw many optimizations and innovations. The questions databank had an overall update for both written tests and interviews, and added some specialized English questions; tablets were used to assess OSCE tests, and all tests of theories were computerized; more weights were given to speciality tests; dedicated English question assessors were set for hospital-level interviews; a commission for discipline inspection participated throughout the process to ensure fairness.
