On July 13, 2018, a painting session was held in PUMCH. Doctors, nurses, patients and volunteers gathered together to draw colorful worlds on canvas. On this quiet afternoon filled with music, people forgot the differences between them and everything else and were lost in an artistic world.
The first leg of “Art in Hospital 2018 China Journey”, the activity aims at providing patients with comfort and hope and turning hospitals into beautiful places of healing. Art can change many things, said David Moore, council member of the US-based Hospital Art Foundation, host of the activity. “Our aim is to bring love and consolation to patients in different countries and use art to change their worlds.”
PUMCH cares for patients’ heart as well as their body. In 2014 it was the first Chinese hospital to cooperate with the Foundation on such activities, which received positive feedbacks from both doctors and patients.
The activity was co-hosted by PUMCH Training Center, Beijing Leyi Social Work Development Center, Beijing Foreign Enterprise Human Resources Services Co., Ltd., International Medical Service and Administration Committee of Chinese Hospital Association (to be established) and was organized by the Publicity Office and Nursing Department of PUMCH.
