The “Lecture Hall”, organized by the respective Department of Anesthesiology/Operating Room of the two hospitals, was initiated since August 2015, when the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee launched group-style medical support to Tibet. On January 31 this year, the Society of Anesthesiology, Chinese Medical Association decided to launch the 2nd “National Anesthesia Week” publicity activities from March 26 to April 1, under the theme “A beautiful life starts with pain-free healthcare”. In early March, during the “two sessions”, Professor Huang Yuguang, a CPPCC member and director of the Department of Anesthesiology, PUMCH also put forward a proposal advocating labor anesthesia and anesthesia as a more independent subject.

The first distance academic conference in three years, the forum received great support from leaders and relevant departments of both hospitals. Qin Mingwei, assistant to the president of PUMCH, delivered a speech at the opening ceremony. He spoke highly of the contribution of the Department of Anesthesiology/Operating Room in the three year group-style medical support to Tibet. He praised the enthusiasm of Department members as well as this distance academic support. On behalf of PUMCH leaders he sent greetings to the hospital’s third batch medical workers in Tibet and committed further efforts in this program.

The forum is in two parts: normal practice of clinical anesthesia and standardized nursing in operating room. Lectures are designed according to requests and needs of the Tibetan hospital.

From March 26, the “National Anesthesia Week” will fully unfold in respects as science publicity, free anesthesia assessment, labor anesthesia and pain-free medical care.
