(By Guo Jing, Liu Xiaokun, Fu Tanping) On October 28, a meeting marking the 60th founding anniversary of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences (CAMS) was held at the Lecture Hall, at which the “top 10 sci-tech achievements” of CAMS were unveiled.
PUMCH projects among the “top 10” were: “creation and promotion of chemotherapy for radical cure of choriocarcinoma” by the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, “Discovery of first AIDS patient in China and prevention/treatment system for emerging infectious diseases” by the Department of Infectious Diseases and other institutions, and “creation of natural medicine including butylphthalide and bicyclol” participated by the Department of Neurology.
Three other PUMCH projects were nominated for the “top ten”. They were: “clinical and basic treatment of secretory pituitary adenoma” by the Department of Endocrinology and other departments; “creation of clinical diagnosis and treatment system for scoliosis and series researches” by the Department of Orthopaedics, and “pathological study and creation of prevention/treatment system for pancreatic cancer” by the Department of General Surgery and the Department of Pathology.
Besides, at the PUMC, CAMS Sci-tech Innovation Meeting & 3rd Sci-tech Award Ceremony held on the morning of October 31 at the teaching building, Professor Zhu Lan from the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, PUMCH won the award of distinguished contribution, Physician Wu Nan from the Department of Orthopaedics and Physician Yuan Jing from the Department of Neurology won the award of youth innovation. The Rare Disease Research Center and the Clinical Immunology Research Center were approved to become research centers of CAMS.
