On September 11, 2016, the Beauty of Responsibility--China Injection Cosmetic Medical Safety and Risk Prevention Forum was held in Beijing, which was hosted by PUMCH in cooperation with the Plastic Surgery Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Plastic Surgery Branch of Chinese Medical Association and the Plastic Surgery Branch of Beijing Medical Association. The event saw the establishment of “Meidao Plastic Surgery Medical Safety Alliance” and the release of a statement entitled “beauty rooted in health”. Experts from various fields discussed safety hazards in injection cosmetic medicine in China, called for a safety control system—from production to circulation, from enterprise to hospital, from official supervision to self-discipline—so as to build a healthy environment to guarantee the legal rights of beauty seekers.
 

Participants in the forum included experts from plastic surgery institutions, government departments, hospital management, enterprises and privately run medical institutions. Wang Dafang, deputy secretary of the Chinese Medical Association, Wang Yipeng, vice president of PUMCH, attended the event and gave speeches. In the morning, Zhao Yang, director of the Department of Drug and Cosmetics Registration, China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA), Zhao Peng, evaluator of Center for Medical Device Evaluation, CFDA, Professor Wan Xinhua from the Department of Neurology, PUMCH, Professor Qi Zuoliang, president of the Plastic Surgery Hospital and Professor Wang Xiaojun from PUMCH gave reports on hot topics including “related regulations on cosmetic injection materials and GCP”, “related laws and regulations on cosmetic injection materials and drug evaluation in China”, “complications caused by fake or shoddy drug in cosmetic injection”, “current conditions in medical safety in cosmetic injection in China” and  “the history and development of cosmetic injection in China”. The afternoon was filled by several technical, academic reports.
 

The forum was attended by more than 400 representatives from public hospitals, private medical institutions and enterprises across China.
