Prof. Zhao Jialiang (L) receives Distinguished Leadership Award in Vision and Ophthalmology Research
Professor Zhao Jialiang from the Ophthalmology Department of our hospital was granted the Distinguished Leadership Award in Vision and Ophthalmology Research at the Annual Meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO) held in Seattle, May 2016. The award, for the first time established by the Overseas Chinese Association of Vision and Eye Research (OCAVER), is to be granted to persons of great contribution in leading vision and eye research.
Professor Zhao acted from 2000 to 2007 as chairman of the Chinese Association of Ophthalmology, a branch of the Chinese Medical Association, from 2001 to 2009 as editor-in-chief of the Chinese Journal of Ophthalmology, and from 2005 to 2011 as chairman of the Chinese Ophthalmologist Association, a branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association. He contributed significantly to the modernization of China’s eye research and to the communication and exchanges between ophthalmology communities in China and the world. By now, representatives of Chinese ophthalmologists can be found in major world organizations of ophthalmology, both academic and professional. This is a well-earned honor for Professor Zhao.
