On December 2-5, 2015, the InterRAI Workshop & Old Age Care International Experience Seminar was held in Beijing. InterRAI, members of the hospital’s assessment tool development group and nearly 20 experts and scholars from 11 countries gathered together to discuss old age care and promote the effective application of InterRAI in China.

On December 2-4, an internal routine meeting of the hospital’s assessment tool development group was held at the academic hall. Participants exchanged views on internal framework, entry integration and logic correction of the latest development tool, and discussed such topics as modification of simplified scale, quality indicator supplement and the possibility of connecting emergency assessment tool with primary health care services.

The Old Age Care International Experience Seminar was held on December 5. In their speeches, experts paid high attention to such topics as the training of professionals, reasonable distribution of medical resources and the combination of medical and daily care, and expressed their commitment to raising the overall medical care for the old and the entire society.

InterRAI is a complete assessment system for the care of the old and the disabled. Main tasks include the screening of groups who need assessment, the assessment of old age complications, the functions of the assessed and their family, environment support, and monitoring of changes in the assessed. Experts suggested that patients are divided into ED, AC, PAC and HC. InterRAI is expected to help with efforts to set up basic databank, distribute medical resources reasonably, further support the formulation of policies and standards, monitor the services of medical and care institutions so as to boost the quality of old age care.
