PUMCH reaches world level in surgical treating of Takayasu arteritis

A multidisciplinary team of PUMCH, led by the Vascular Center and supported by departments of anesthesiology, rheumatism and immunology, and critical care medicine, successfully treated 116 cases of Takayasu arteritis (TA) between 2003 and 2013. Based on standardized medication, 154 times of operations and minimally invasive interventions were performed, including 69 surgical operations and 85 minimally invasive interventions. The team reported a 100% technical success rate with a death rate of perioperative period at 1.7%, reaching world advanced level.
