On March 11, 2015, the China-US Perioperative Leadership Symposium on Delivering High Value Perioperative Care was held in Beijing. The Symposium was jointly sponsored by the University of Pennsylvania and the Chinese Society of Anesthesiology under the Chinese Medical Association. Several experts on the management of patient safety from the University and Chinese institutions were invited to give 11 special lectures, and excellent academic reports were given by J. Larry Jameson, Lee A. Fleisher, Ara Chalian, Joshua H. Atkins, Luo Ailun, Fan Jing, Huang Yuguang and Zhao Jing.

Focusing on improving the quality of perioperative care, discussions were made on combining, in an interdisciplinary era, perioperative care with state policies, infrastructure construction, leading style and hospital culture, so as to push forward the academic frontline of high value perioperative care and lead innovative development of interdisciplinary cooperation in this field.
