This is a book about the past and present of PUMC. The author, centered on the activities of the Rockefeller Foundation, drew a long and detailed picture of the college in the former half of the 20th century. It tells about the birth, prosperity, decline and revitalization of the college, and truthfully records the Foundation's efforts to change China by western sciences under the mission of "toward the well-being of mankind".
