On November 17, 2018, the Hospital Management Institute, Fudan University released the “2017 ranking of Chinese hospitals” and “2017 ranking of Chinese hospital departments”. PUMCH has topped the former list for nine years on end.

Eight PUMCH departments topped the latter list, which covered 40 departments. They are:  Immunology and Rheumatology, Gynecology and Obstetrics, General Surgery, Neurology, Nuclear Medicine, Emergency, ICU and Allergy. Five departments ranked the second: Radiology, Respiratory Medicine, Ultrasonic Medicine, Endocrinology and Laboratory. PUMCH had a total of 29 departments within the top ten, or 72.5%. Besides, in 2017 PUMCH had five departments nominated.

This year the assessors’ data bank is reportedly hitting a new record, with 4,630 experts, 10.9% higher than last year (4,175). 2,964, or 64.1%, valid feedbacks were received, much higher than the 29-year-old American best hospital ranking feedback (about 33.5%).
