(By Jiang Yinan) On the morning of October 5, 2016, SGIPPS, a project of psychosomatic medicine college was launched in Beijing, which was supported by Germany-based DAAD and marked a cooperation between Nordhausen University of Applied Sciences and PUMCH.

Under the mode of holistic medicine, a clinical doctor’s humanistic ideas, psychosomatic skills, communication skills and pressure-control skills have become an important factor in service quality and relationship with patients. As the No.1 comprehensive hospital in China, PUMCH has been paying great attention to its psychological aspect. From 2007, it started long-term strategic cooperation with the psychosomatic medicine center at the University of Freiburg. Under the joint efforts of Prof. Kurt Fritzsche from Freiburg, Prof. Markus Bassler from Nordhausen and Prof. Wei Jing, the cooperative project received support from DAAD in May 2016. The project represents efforts to construct psychological medicine specialty, build a training base on psychosomatic medicine and improve relevant standards.

The launching ceremony was followed by the first intensive training, which was participated by 44 medical workers from across China. In the form of discussion groups and summer camp, the five-day training covered psychosomatic theory, practice, tutoring and research methods, enabled participants to grasp psychological medicine skills at various levels so as to contribute to the psychosomatic side of comprehensive hospitals.
